In individual therapy, I will work with you one-on-one to help you gain a better understanding of yourself and the struggles that prompted you to seek therapy. I work to create a unique therapeutic approach for each specific client that I see; however, the basic building blocks of questioning, active listening, and hands-on exercises will always be present. Therapy is an intense process of exploration and growth – together we will be delving into topics that may be uncomfortable and difficult at times. It is important to note that this process often makes things seems worse before they get better. I like to think of it as being like your immune system when you get sick: in order to get well, your immune system has to make you pretty uncomfortable along the way!
Individual sessions last for 50 minutes and I generally recommend that you plan for at least one session a week in order to keep up your momentum and to get the most from your counseling experience.
